The exhibition Ukrainian Body is an attempt to take a look at the Ukrainian society as an environment of body’s being, and to conceive the experience of living inside the body. Material surrounding that determines coordinates of limitations and possibilities for our bodies, shapes the everyday-life sensory background – all that is being experienced immediately by the body, “on one’s own back” – reminding us about the harshness of reality, whereas if one can possibly step out of his body, then it’s only forever. Political and ideological guidelines, fears and desires, images and ideas are capable of leaving quite visible signs on the body, they can materialize in corporal forms, manifestations or practices. This complex web of factors of corporal experience and ways of its symbolic cartography has been brought into the focus of art analysis. We suggest to interpret the body, particularly the imaginable, ideal, metaphorical, constructed and caught by participants’ eyes, both as a symptom of its environment and an instrument for its cognition

I'm pleased to announce about our group-project: "Civil Collective"

Civil Collective is the collaborative effort of five up and coming photographers from around the world. Established in 2011 and launched January 2012, it is an artistic exposition of creative efforts, each with unique offerings varying in vision and style.

Through working together we seek to offer forward thinking interpretations that come from differences in age, location, and experience and to contribute to the photo community by exhibiting work through exhibitions and printed materials.

Abstract writing.

In continuation of my abstract practices.

In search of its identity graffiti writers have resorted to a constant search for new forms of writing (style) letters. This process has been going on for over 40 years. But if you pay attention, then without much difficulty will notice that the only change aliases, all the traditional effects remain unchanged. How many times have you written a "letter", it still remains a "letter". Graffiti writers have long since lost the spirit of protest and became part of pop-culture, marginals spam.
I am long thinking about theme identification street-writer in public space and concluded that there can be nothing better than to completely renounce the use of letters / names, and leave only the pure form of an abstract. This allows graffiti writer to work with clean style, become more expressive.

Sasha Kurmaz is a juggler, he plays with an art halfway between ironic and poetic that always distances itself from a purely visual reading. In the pictures of this young photographer – born in 1986 in Kiev, just after the Chernobyl disaster – you will never find fiction translated in metaphor, the weak link of many mediocre artists now around. In them you will find heart and brains, that energy we ask from a work of art in order not to feel cheated. And if you really can’t appreciate them, it means you have a problem with your soul’s DNA.

Sasha, come il suo paese, ha un cuore rivoluzionario. L’Ucraina ha da sempre giocato un ruolo importante nella storia dell’uomo, anche se spesso dietro le quinte. Formatasi nel IX secolo, era tra le forze dominanti del mondo, per poi soccombere alla mano del popolo più e più volte nel corso dei secoli, a causa di numerose battaglie cruente. Ha poi creato l’Unione Sovietica. Ha costruito il più grande aereo della storia: l’Antonov AN-225. Ha fondato l’UN. E’ sede del più grande disastro nucleare fino ad oggi. E si conferma come il più grande paese del continente Europeo. Sasha è un tipo stravagante, basta guardare le foto. Non c’è bisogno di leggere le parole. Per vari motivi, per cui potete o meno essere d’accordo, non abbiamo potuto pubblicare le foto più forti di Sasha, ma ne abbiamo pubblicato una selezione più soft. Sul suo sito e Flickr però potete trovare gli scatti che meglio lo definiscono.

Immediately I found it funny, but after this is very upset me I thought that my graffiti without my knowledge can be used for advertising, packaging and other crap for consumption.What you do for fun gives money to those who are above you.
